November brings exciting new arrivals at Surrey Reptile Centre. Our shop floor is buzzing with amazing reptiles and exotics, each with their own personality and care requirements. Whether you're a first-time keeper or adding to your collection, we've got something special waiting for you.
Let's introduce you to this month's standout species that are currently available in-store.
Bearded Dragons: The Perfect Starter Reptile
Our bearded dragons continue to be crowd favorites, and for good reason. These Australian natives are incredibly docile and seem to genuinely enjoy human interaction. The juveniles we have in stock right now are particularly active and curious.
Bearded dragons make excellent first reptiles because they're relatively easy to care for and very forgiving of minor mistakes. They ideally require a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft vivarium, with proper UVB lighting and a temperature gradient from 75-85°F. Their diet consists of both insects and vegetables, making feeding straightforward.
What sets our current stock apart is their excellent temperament. These particular dragons have been well-socialized and handle beautifully. You can visit the shop to meet them in person and see which one connects with you.
Leopard Geckos: Small but Full of Character
Our leopard gecko selection this month includes some stunning morphs. These small lizards pack tremendous personality into their compact frames. Unlike many geckos, leopards are terrestrial and don't require the vertical space that tree-dwelling species need.
The current group includes normal colors, high yellows, and a few beautiful albino variants. Each gecko has distinct patterns and coloring that make them unique. Leopard geckos are nocturnal, so they're perfect for people who want to observe their pets in the evening.
Care requirements are minimal compared to many reptiles. They ideally require a 3ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft vivarium with low UVB. They eat crickets, mealworms, and other insects exclusively.
These geckos live 15-20 years with proper care, making them long-term companions. The ones we have in stock are all eating well and showing great activity levels.
Ball Pythons: Gentle Giants
Our ball python selection includes several morphs that showcase the incredible variety within this species. These snakes are known for their calm demeanor and manageable size, typically reaching 3-5 feet as adults.
The current stock includes normal ball pythons as well as some beautiful morphs like pastels and pinstripes. Each snake has been feeding consistently on frozen-thawed prey, which makes maintenance much easier for keepers.
Ball pythons are perfect for snake enthusiasts who want a docile species that doesn't require enormous enclosures. They ideally require a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft vivarium with low UVB, plus appropriate heating and hiding spots. They eat every 1-2 weeks, making feeding schedules very manageable.
These snakes are known for their tendency to curl into a tight ball when stressed, hence their name. The individuals we have are well-adjusted and rarely exhibit this defensive behavior during handling.
Blue-Tongued Skinks: Unique Australian Lizards
Blue-tongued skinks are not in stock at present but are available to order. Minimum adult enclosure size is 4ft x 2ft x 2ft.
They are omnivores and need UVB lighting, a daytime basking area, and a spacious, well-ventilated setup.

Crested Geckos: The Velcro Lizards
Our crested gecko collection includes some fantastic specimens in various colors and patterns. These New Caledonian natives are excellent for people who prefer more delicate, arboreal species.
Crested geckos are unique because they can drop their tails as a defense mechanism, but unlike many lizards, the tail doesn't regrow. This actually doesn't affect their health or wellbeing at all. Some in our stock have dropped tails but are extremely healthy and thriving.
Care is straightforward with these geckos. They prefer tall enclosures with lots of climbing opportunities. Room temperature works fine, making heating optional in most homes. They eat a combination of insects and specialized crested gecko diets.
The current group includes fired-up specimens that show beautiful color changes throughout the day. These geckos literally change from darker colors during activity to lighter shades when resting.
Corn Snakes: America's Favorite Snake
We've got an excellent selection of corn snakes representing various morphs and color patterns. These North American natives are arguably the best beginner snake species available.
The current stock includes normals, anerythristics, and some beautiful hypomelanistic specimens. Corn snakes are incredibly hardy and forgiving, making them perfect for new snake keepers. They're also small enough that housing costs remain reasonable.
Adult corn snakes typically reach 4-6 feet and ideally require a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft vivarium with low UVB. They're excellent feeders and rarely refuse meals. The specimens we have are all established on frozen-thawed prey items.
What makes corn snakes special is their incredible variety of available morphs and their docile temperaments. They rarely bite and handle beautifully even as juveniles.
Axolotls: Aquatic Oddities
Our aquatic section has limited numbers of axolotls available right now, in different color morphs. These Mexican salamanders are completely aquatic and represent something completely different from traditional reptiles.
Axolotls require cool water temperatures between 60-68°F, making them perfect for UK homes without additional heating. They eat earthworms, bloodworms, and specialized axolotl pellets. The current stock includes leucistic, wild-type, and golden albino varieties.
These amphibians are fascinating because they remain in their larval form throughout their lives, never metamorphosing like other salamanders. They can regenerate lost limbs, tails, and even parts of their hearts and brains.
Care involves maintaining good water quality and providing hiding spots. They're relatively easy to keep once their specific requirements are understood.
Also, we frequently have a wide choice of reptiles that have become Re-Homes (through no fault of their own), all at competitive prices and often including their full setups.
